When Andrew's son was very young, Andrew, his parents, and his sister turned trips down the hallway into imaginary bear hunts. What began as a family tradition became part of the language Andrew and his son used to express their bond.
"Good night, Baby Bear."
"Good night, Daddy Bear."
Today, the bear represents strength governed by restraint, the responsibility to create a stable environment, and the duty to protect what matters without being controlled by fear or pressure.
It also represents legacy. Discipline is not merely about what a person achieves. It is about becoming someone the people who follow them can trust. As a father, Andrew wants the principles he teaches to be visible in the example he sets for his son.
I dedicate The Disciplined Trilogy to my father, who passed away in June 2026.
He spent much of my childhood traveling across the country, leading an underground construction crew whose work earned them jobs state after state. He was tough, worked hard, and expected the job to be done right. With his grandchildren, that same man was gentle, caring, and loving.
His drive to be the best at his trade still pushes me today. He always told me he was proud of me, even when I struggled to see a reason.
Dad, thank you for the discipline you helped build in me, the example you set, and your belief in me. These books are dedicated to you.
